Zouri, The Portuguese Brand That Transforms Plastic From Ocean Into Stylish Shoes ♦ Zouri is an eco-vegan footwear brand that uses plastic trash from the Portuguese coast together with ecologic and sustainable materials. And today, Secrets From Portugal is going to show you everything!
Born in Guimarães, Zouri is a brand that wants to change the world with their 100% vegan footwear. In order to do that, they clean the Portuguese coast with the help of a group of six hundred volunteers from local institutions, NGOs and schools. This year, Zouri has removed 1 ton of plastic from the Portuguese beaches.
Over the last two years, Zouri worked and researched for the best eco-friendly and vegan materials. The plastic trash is transformed into raw material, mixed with natural materials such as organic cotton, natural rubber and pineapple leaves fabric – pinatex.
According to Adriana Mano, the future of the brand is to incorporate the waste from the oceans into new products such as furniture, but the footwear lines still have legs for walking.
The northern brand has a collection of 20 tennis models, all produced by hand, one at a time – which makes no pair exactly the same. Each pair reuses the equivalent of six plastic bottles taken from the ocean.
