In his luggage, Valongo’s natural chef takes flavours from the Algarve, where he has lived since he was 10 years old. The festival, which pays tribute to Bangkok’s typical street food culture, brings together a selection of chefs, winemakers and food specialists from around the world, and takes place from September 2-8 at the Anantara Siam hotel. Among the guests is Rui Andrade, who became the newest Michelin-starred chef in 2015 while driving the kitchen of the Bom Bom restaurant in Carvoeiro. Earlier this year, he became a chef at the Vistas restaurant (Monte Rei Golf & Country Club) in Vila Nova de Cacela.

Previously, Rui worked with fellow Michelin star Christophe Bacquié at the La Ferme Saint Siméon Hotel in France and the Costes restaurant, run by Miguel Rocha Vieira in Budapest. The dishes it presents combine French techniques with Portuguese flavours, making use of raw materials such as fish and seafood from the Algarve.

Each chef will be responsible for two dinners at Anantara Siam restaurants: Biscotti, Madison, Spice Market and Shintaro. Also on the agenda is a street fair in the hotel gardens, where the various participants will present some of their proposals. The event is open to anyone who wants to attend cooking classes by the invited chefs and, of course, taste some of the dishes prepared. For the duration of the festival, the hotel offers an accommodation package that allows you to taste the flavours of the world concentrated there.

The price starts at 18,000 Thai Bahtes (around 523 euros) per night and includes accommodation, buffet breakfast and two table seats from one of the guest chefs on each night’s accommodation. Reservations can be made here.
