For the third consecutive year, Portugal was voted the best tourist destination in the world. The country has won the World Travel Awards, considered the “Oscar” of international tourism.
Also in the competition were Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dubai, Greece, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, USA and Vietnam.
The award is decided by votes of tourism professionals and travellers and has been held since 1993. In addition to the ‘World Leading Destination’ award for the country, the capital city of Lisbon was voted the best destination for a city break – a good choice for short stays for its quality and diversity of services in hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions.
What’s more, the Madeira archipelago won as “Best Island Destination in the World” and Paiva Walkways in Arouca took “Best Tourist Attraction in the World in the Adventure Segment”.
