Born less than a month ago, it promises to quickly become a hot spot – at least for the thousands of Portuguese who have fallen in love with Bali and visit this Indonesian island each year. The same passion that motivated two friends to leave everything in Portugal to live by the sea and start a business with that name: Laut – Mar, in the local language.
Laut Bali opened at the beginning of July. Located in the heart of Canggu, one of Bali’s most sought after and popular areas, and a five-minute drive from amazing Echo Beach, the accommodation is a spacious three-bedroom villa with large living room, kitchen, pool and countryside views of rice.
The villa offers high-speed internet throughout and stands out for its location. “It’s in Bali’s trendiest spot,” but “surrounded by rice fields,” the owners explain.
Gonçalo Claro, 37, born in Setúbal and a fashion photographer; Ze Ardisson, 31 years old, born in Évora and an artist; and Mafalda Mota Alves, 32, born in Lisbon and a fashion stylist, are three friends who have a passion for Bali in common. In recent years they have made this, like so many other people in Portugal and around the world, their favourite vacation spot, returning whenever possible.
The owners exchanged Lisbon for Ilha dos Deuses, in order to embrace a new challenge. Photographer Gonçalo Claro stayed for Portugal, but always connected and supporting the project. And so came The Laut Bali, created from scratch by the three, and reflecting their creative visions.
Villa LAUT Bali, allows you to escape to the breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. Located on the cliffside at Padang Padang Beach in Uluwatu’s South Bali region our five self-contained apartment suites are designed to ensure maximum seclusion for every guest and are ideal for couples, families and groups. Boasting superb views, The Laut Bai features minimalist décor, a perfect blend of typically Balinese and contemporary details. Photographs of Gonçalo’s portfolio and pieces of art made by José are some of the details you can find there. The plants are the protagonists of the various divisions of the villa, both indoor and outdoor, giving them the exoticism of the region.
