Created by André Jordan to be a “Quinta do Lago in Lisbon”, Belas Clube de Campo is considered “resilient” to natural risks, such as floods or storms. Belas Clube de Campo, a residential and golf complex in the municipality of Sintra, developed by businessman André Jordan, has just been certified by the standard that attests its resilience to climate change, among other things, within the scope of the LiderA system, and with a high degree of classification (class A).

This certification attests to the capacity of the built environments to be able to adjust and respond to natural risks, such as floods, storms or heat waves. But it also extends to the “resilience” of the enterprise in terms of human, social or economic aspects, namely acts of criminality, terrorist attacks, failures in infrastructure, among others.
“All communities and areas are, in a way, vulnerable to natural or man-made hazards. Learning to live with risk, accepting this vulnerability, shocks and tensions, and developing a collective tolerance for risk, is the first step towards becoming more resilient ”explains Manuel Duarte Pinheiro, responsible for the LiderA system.
The project in Belas that Andre Jordan developed with the objective of being a kind of “Quinta do Lago in the Lisbon region”, which in its new phase is called Lisbon Green Valley, constitutes “an international reference in the area of sustainability, and already presents a set of distinctive measures in relation to common practice “, guarantees the person in charge of the certification process.
For the certification of Belas Clube de Campo as “resilient” to climate change, a series of criteria were taken into account, totalling 20 evaluation parameters. These include heat waves, heavy or flooding rain, flooding, supply, water quality, soil erosion, fire risk, biodiversity, and several other criteria.
Some examples of measures in which the complex stands out as resilient are the quality of the insulation in walls, floors and roofs, the supply and quality of water, in addition to the rainwater collection and storage system. With anti-seismic construction, the condominium also stands out for its fire risk prevention measures, with an observation and surveillance post of the forest within a radius of 30km, and a fast intervention tank.
