Web Summit 2019
The Irish Entrepreneurship and Technology Fair held by Paddy Cosgrave took place in Altice Arena in Lisbon, between November 4th and 7th. Between conferences, startup presentations, daily or nightly networking, mentoring hours and investor meetings, Web Summit 2019 was incredible. Michel Barnier, Katherine Maher, Brad Smith, CEO of Microsoft, Robot Sophia and Edward Snowden were some of the names that hit the stage on the event that focused in some of the biggest issues of the world.
Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit
The Luxury Design and Craftsmanship Summit came back to Porto for its second edition. The summit that is a remarkable networking event with a lively debate for creative minds, designers, artisans and brands to explore the increasingly crucial nexus between design and luxury that are injecting the new nerve into the craftsmanship world. A fresh new perspective to debate the most innovative practices of the luxury and design industries as the major players in the growth and tribute of finest Craftsmanship.
This was a full experience of trendsetting talks that took place in Porto and discussed many interesting topics about the world of design, luxury and, above all the importance of Craftsmanship!
Joana Vasconcelos And Roche Bobois Partnership
Joana Vasconcelos partnered with the French brand Roche Bobois. The furniture collection is inspired by some of the brands most known products such as the Mah Jonh sofa. The Portuguese artist has reinterpreted six of the famous pieces of Roche Bobois maintaining their essence.
The result is a collection that uses the materials and techniques Joana Vasconcelos uses in her work “to give a sculptural dimension to the pieces of Roche Bobois,”.
Covet Valley
Covet Valley is the latest mid-century modern experience that you can enjoy in Porto. Originally built in the 1960s, Covet Valley keeps its mid-century architectural roots intact by featuring rigorous geometric lines and large windows that perfectly integrate the house’s interior design in its natural surroundings, overlooking one of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes – the Douro, a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.
Vista Alegre X Franck Muller
The Portuguese renowned luxury porcelain brand, Vista Alegre, and the prestigious Swiss watch brand, Franck Muller; teamed up to bring you a highly exclusive limited-edition collection contains 20 pieces all manufactured in the most beautiful rose gold shade. “Atlantic” is the name of this line and can be purchased at the brand’s official agents both in Portugal and in Angola.
Joana Vasconcelos, I’m Your Mirror Exhibition
The exhibition, curated by the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao in partnership with Serralves and Kunsthall Rotterdam, in Rotterdam, was also curated by Enrique Juncosa. This exhibition joined more than 30 pieces, from 1997 until today, covering up two decades of artistic practice and analyzing her development as an artist.
“I’m Your Mirror” included many of her most known artworks, such as the Cama Valium, from 1998, The Bride, from 2001 to 20005, the Red Independent Heart, from 2005, Marilyn, from 2011, and Lilicoptère, from 2012, and also new works exclusively created for this exhibition, such as Finisterra, I’ll be Your Mirror or Solitário – all of them from 2018.

The biannual VILA VITA Fine Wine & Food Fair 2019 kicked off in May and counted with an amazing schedule of gastronomic activities and experiences. Portugal and the Oscar for the Best World Touristic Destination
Portugal won the World Travel Awards for the third consecutive time. The award, which has been held since 1993 and has a popular and expert vote. Portugal was in the top for “CNN”. After pointing out Praia da Marinha, in the Algarve, as one of the best in the world to visit in September, the country now receives a peculiar distinction: the American magazine considered cornbread as one of the 50 best bread in the world. The list, published Wednesday, October 16, includes some of the world’s best-known carbohydrates, such as Brazil’s cheese bread; the french baguettes; ciabatta from Italy; Mexican tortillas and even khachapuri, a boat-shaped Georgian speciality made with cheese and a starry egg.

According to this analysis, the Historic Center of Porto has been identified in photographs about 4.5 million times this year.
