At number 198 of Rua Miguel Bombarda, in Porto, you will find a new store where only pairs of original socks with a unique design are sold, inspired by a timeless aesthetic in our country: the famous Portuguese tiles.
The idea of transforming the Portuguese Tiles into a design product dates back to 2009. By 2014, Oporto conquered its rightful place as a privileged touristic city. Tourists started to discover downtown and started visiting their family’s retail store (located in this part of town) attracted by the socks.
The entire Sir Tile line was designed together by the couple, who developed a unisex product, manufactured entirely within a radius of 50 kilometres from the city of Porto and available in two sizes: 36-40 and 41-45. “The socks were created as a design project that does not follow the patterns of seasonality and gender differentiation in the fashion industry”, reveals João.
