LOJA CLAUS PORTO

There are lioz floors, white walls, and a perfume where Portugal fits. Entering the brand new Claus Porto store, in downtown Pombaline, is also to travel through the memories of some of the most characteristic aromas of the centenary brand, which in two steps, in Chiado, maintains the main address. In this new store, there is a soap bar, where it is possible to make different combinations of soaps to arrive at such an individual perfume as a delicious gift.

At the roots of Claus Porto are its German founders and a beautiful, historic Portuguese city. The marriage of these two European identities went on to create a venerable beauty and fragrance house, which marks its 130th anniversary in 2017.

LE MONUMENTAL NUXE SPA

It was one of the most luxurious spaces in the city in the 1930s. In Porto, there was no one who did not know the Café Monumental, in the middle of Avenida dos Aliados, one of the main arteries of downtown. After that, the space of the late Monumental gained many lives, dressed many skins, from various crafts and for the most distinct purposes. This year, it has recovered the allure of the last century, thanks to the investment of the French chain Maison Albar Hotels, which built a new five-star hotel, Le Monumental Palace Hotel. But beyond the neo-Gothic (fortunately maintained) façade and interiors, which combine Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, is a treasure to discover: the first Nuxe Spa on the Iberian Peninsula.

The Spa, which details what a star-studded hand demands (from changing rooms to massage areas), has three treatment cabins, including a double. To relieve body tensions, alone or together (almost all body treatments allow it), the raw material is always the same: the very famous Huile Prodigieuse, the star product of the French brand, here in an exclusive version for the Spa, with a density that facilitates massage and an aroma that arouses the senses.

LOJA BENAMÔR

The images do not do justice to the beauty that is, in the middle of the Prine, entering a store completely pink, in a faithful tribute to the mythical face cream of the brand, whose formula dates back to 1925. The mosaics on the floor, the charm Art Deco and, of course, the products, are just some of the reasons for wanting to discover this Benamôr store, the second after the success of Rua dos Bacalhoeiros, also in the capital.

However, as the shopkeepers explain to us, the public of this new address, opened since the end of August, has been affirming itself quite differently: with fewer tourists and more Portuguese. From the brand that – depending on the generation – arouses now memories and nostalgia sometimes curiosity for products, we highlight the face care section, which in this new space gets a whole wall, giving signs that, after the release of micellar water, this It can be a scope to gain new referrals.

VILA VITA SPA BY SISLEY PARIS

After an extensive renovation process, Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa Spa reopened earlier this year, this time in collaboration with Sisley. Those aware will know that this is the first Sisley Spa in Portugal, with exclusive use of French brand products. The tranquillity of the lines that characterize the design of each corner of the new space is also mirrored in the 14 treatment rooms.

Located in its own separate building, VILA VITA Spa by Sisley is a true sanctuary, a refuge that promises utter relaxation. Take your pick from a range of wellbeing therapies and beauty treatments that utilise products from leading French skincare brand, Sisley.
Rua Anneliese Pohl, Alporchinhos, Lagoa.
SKINLIFE WELLNESS SPA

It opened its doors in late October and is the next destination to demand a trip to Porto. At Torel Avantgarde, a 5-star boutique hotel in Invicta, the Skinlife Wellness Spa was set up as a result of a partnership between the niche beauty brand store and the Torel Boutiques group. If this all sounded tempting in itself, we added the icing on the cake: using Tata Harper products on the treatment menu.

The luxury cosmetics brand, which had already arrived in Portugal in September, by the hand of Skinlife, is now also appearing in this space, with a series of treatments as green as the philosophy it advocates.
Rua da Restauração, 336, Porto.
212.2 RICARDO VILA NOVA

Ricardo Vila Nova is a lover of hair and this can be seen when we meet him in his own space in the middle of Avenida da Liberdade, in Lisbon. The trichologist, who is permanently at Harrods in London, but who spends some of his time between New York, Abu Dhabi or Lisbon, is able to analyze hair and scalp in detail. For those with questions, Ricardo probably offers the answers, and these can be a custom shampoo with ingredients that satisfy the need for a particular type of scalp, derma roller or laser treatments.

But first of all, it is necessary an extraction (yes, implies to pull some hair, but less than you think), for the professional to analyze the follicle and take its ilations. From genetics to diet to hormonal problems, there’s no room for doubt: our hair really hides secrets. Ricardo Vila Nova helps us unravel them.
Rua Bartolomeu Dias, Loja nº7, Lisboa.
