It’s called “Joachim Koerper’s Kitchen” and is the new book by the German chef responsible for the Eleven Lisbon restaurant. The launch of the work marks the 15th anniversary of the city’s emblematic space, which sits atop Eduardo VII Park.
The preface is by Miguel Júdice, who led the chef for the first time to know the land where that restaurant would be born. “When he looked at the Tagus from the top of Eduardo VII Park, his face lit up with a torn smile, his eyes sparkled as they shine with our first bicycle. From then on, Lisbon no longer left him, ”says Miguel Júdice.
The restaurant is located in the heart of Lisbon’s business district, overlooking the entire city and surrounded by lush gardens. More than simply a restaurant, Eleven is a place of culture and art, both at the table and beyond it.
Born in Germany, Joachim Koerper long ago fell in love with the cuisine and ingredients of Southern Europe, and is today widely acclaimed as one of the most important masters of “Mediterranean Cuisine”. The teachings of these great Chefs have made Joachim decide to adopt a gastronomic philosophy based on the exclusive use of ‘natural and fresh ingredients that are local to the area where I work’. That principle is one of the foundations of his culinary virtuosity. Joachim Koerper affirmed himself as a leading Chef when he opened his own restaurant in a small Spanish seaside village. Nine months later, the Michelin guide awarded the “Girasol” its first star, and three years later its second, which it still holds.
Finally, the book brings together a selection of dozens of haute cuisine recipes. It has been on sale since October 23 in the restaurant and bookstores. It costs 30 €. But there is another way to have this book, it is offered to customers every two bookings from the following menus: Eleven, Lobster or White Truffle.
