More than just a hotel, L’AND Vineyards is an exclusive retreat. With only 26 suites integrating modern architecture into nature, the hotel provides an atmosphere of sober luxury, natural beauty and tranquillity. Set in the heart of Alentejo in a unique landscape the hotel assures a unique experience: a night under the stars – the hotel featured sky suites where it’s possible to sleep among the vineyards. The interiors were designed by Marcio Kogan and the artwork is all from Michael Biberstein.
The hotel has two types of suites, the L’And View Suite and the SKY-view suites that allow full opening of the bedroom’s ceiling and a private indoor garden with a plunge pool. Each of the suits covers 102m2 making it an exclusive retreat with an extraordinary view of the vineyards, lake and local landscape. (and also a totally romantic and intimate atmosphere that includes a large terrace with a fireplace and private patio).
The concept of restaurant L’AND seeks to affirm the new Portuguese gastronomic culture, reflecting our history and our culture, also integrating the experiences and ingredients resulting from discoveries in the Far East. The restaurant is focused on giving a unique experience to all the visitors of the region. Everything is made with passion. The meals are created to bring out the smells, the traditions and the culture from this region. With the help of local producers, they received citrus fruit, vegetables, cheeses, yoghurts, aromatic herbs, meat cattle raised in local fields and olive oil traditionally produced as our ancestors did.
Everything used in the L’AND Spa is based on natural ingredients extracted from the vine and wine and valued for their antioxidant properties that contribute to the beauty, well-being and vitality. All the Spa treatments use Caudalie products. In 800 m2 in a serene environment, designed by Marcio Kogan and based on natural stone and wood, the SPA is complemented by an indoor heated pool, sauna and rooms suitable for the exclusive sessions of treatment and relaxation CAUDALIE’s.
From the outside, the simple luxury becomes harmonious. This is also why the central building is designed with modern and minimalist geometric lines. The reception area is integrated with the living room and there is room for a Michelin Star restaurant to work (with chef Miguel Laffan), as well as the wine bar and the well-sheltered terraces on colder days. Inside, whoever is aware of the details, it’s easily noticed how architecture was at the origin of this bold project in 2011.
There is still talk of wine, which ultimately gives the hotel its name (even the spa relies on products naturally extracted from the grape and its antioxidant properties). The vineyard, which extends over the 66 hectares of the estate, is a step away from being organic, but in the meantime, the evidence is already organized to appreciate what is produced here.
