The furniture collection is inspired by some of the brands most known products such as the Mah Jonh sofa. The Portuguese artist has reinterpreted six of the famous pieces of Roche Bobois maintaining their essence. Joana Vasconcelos has partnered with Bobois with a collection inspired in some of the Franch brand’s most iconic products such as the Mah Jong sofa. The furniture brand has challenged the Portuguese Designer to reinterpreted six of their pieces maintaining their essence. The revisited pieces include two Ava chairs, the Laby B Armchairs and Nuage, the cocktail tables Sismic and Cute Cut, and also the Mah Jong Sofa.

The result is a collection that uses the materials and techniques Joana Vasconcelos uses in her work “to give a sculptural dimension to the pieces of Roche Bobois,” the artist’s atelier said in a press release. “Roche Bobois is particularly proud of being associated with multiple talents scored by Joana Vasconcelos. His artistic boldness, brilliant creativity and poetry emanate from her work give a new scale to our creations, which the artist subverts and reinterprets brilliantly, “says Gilles Bonan, CEO of the French brand.

The collection was presented at the artist’s studio in Lisbon, during the ARCO Lisboa contemporary art fair, which ends this Sunday, May 19, and will travel through Europe, and will then be shown and auctioned during Art Basel Miami 2019. will revert to the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation.
