Roche Bobois challenged renowned Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos to reinterpret six of their iconic models. Joana Vasconcelos recreated these pieces by preserving their original creative essence while inscribing her identity. Her unparalleled creativity questions the place of women in the contemporary world by highlighting Portuguese artisanal traditions and know-how. The artist’s six revisited unique pieces – two Ava chairs, the Lady B and Nuage armchairs, the Sismic and Cute Cut coffee tables and a composition of the iconic Mah Jong sofa – are available to purchase and will be exhibited in the Roche Bobois Miami showroom, in the heart of the Design District on the occasion of international festival, Art Basel from December 3 to 8.
Joana Vasconcelos has partnered with Bobois with a collection inspired in some of the Franch brand’s most iconic products such as the Mah Jong sofa. The furniture brand has challenged the Portuguese Designer to reinterpreted six of their pieces maintaining their essence. The revisited pieces include two Ava chairs, the Laby B Armchairs and Nuage, the cocktail tables Sismic and Cute Cut, and also the Mah Jong Sofa.
All proceeds will be donated to the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation. This charity aims to promote and develop art through educational projects.
