With a philosophy based on the best practices of haute cuisine, the restaurant’s proposals have always been inspired by the Atlantic – the restaurant’s background. With the main goal of working the haute cuisine, Fortaleza do Guincho restaurant opened doors in 1998. Later then, in 2001, the restaurant, marked by its strong influence of haute cuisine, won its first Michelin star. Ever since, Fortaleza do Guincho restaurant has been holding on to it.

In the latest years, Fortaleza do Guincho has been betting on changing its concept, by simplifying the restaurant’s set-up to end up with the excessive formality and has assumed officially the bet on a Portuguese fine dining cuisine.
The 5-star Hotel
This fine dining restaurant is inserted in Fortaleza do Guincho, a five-star hotel with a unique service. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Fortaleza do Guincho hosts a Charming Hotel that is part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association.
The Hotel Fortaleza do Guincho counts with eight Courtyard Rooms, located in the cloister, with side beach view through a small fortress window. Upstairs, the 16 Superior Rooms offer splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean, all with enclosed balconies. Also located on the top floor, the 3 Junior Suites offer the best views over the sea, just opposite, and over Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Continental Europe.
