Imortalizada pelo escritor Miguel Torga como “ovo embrionário”, a Aldeia de Piódão é um presépio em plena Serra do Açor. Apesar de já não existirem vestígios, houve ali um Mosteiro de Cister, que faz o lugar remontar ao séc. XIII. Na paisagem salpicada de xisto e azul salta-nos à vista a Igreja Matriz, construída no séc. XVII, com torres cilíndricas rematadas por cones. Ao vaguearmos pelas ruelas, encontramos cruzes nas portas das casas, marcas das crenças das gentes da aldeia.

Immortalized by writer Miguel Torga as an “embryonic egg”, the Village of Piódão is a small but iconic haven in the middle of the Serra do Açor. Even though it was destroyed, there was at this stunning village a Monastery of Cister, which makes the origins of this place go back to the 16th century. In the landscape splashed with shale and blue, we can see the Mother Church, built in the 18th century, with cylindrical towers topped by cones.
